PROJECT DESCRIPTION

As a result of Columbia Gas’s disturbance to public roads and sidewalks during the gas emergency and gas restoration last fall, the Town will be undertaking restoration and paving of approximately 15 miles of roadway. Public Works will be responsible for overseeing the road/sidewalk restoration project. The project is estimated to take 4 years, however with good project coordination, a large portion of work will be completed in advance of this time frame.

Road paving selection and schedule will follow a similar objective process as found in our annual Roads Program, however we will be taking a neighborhood approach such that roads in the same vicinity will be grouped/paved together in order to minimize disruptions to residents/businesses. Paving schedule will be heavily weighted on coordination with several ongoing Town/State projects.

As we move forward with developing the schedule for all roadwork, we will conduct public information meetings to receive input, review alternatives and communicate project plans. As the project progresses, we will also make full use of the Town’s website and social media accounts to provide timely information to residents/businesses.

CONTRACT 3-4-5

PJ Albert has started paving the roads that were milled within the Contract 3-4-5 areas.  Paving is anticipated to take approximately 4 days starting May 28, 2024, weather permitting.  The following roadways are proposed to be repaved this week:

Edmands; Pembrook; Lyman; Tyler; West Woodbridge; West Bradstreet; Bradstreet; Tavern; Park Way; Middlesex St; and Greene St.

PJ Albert's subcontractor MTK is continuing with the installation of concrete handicap ramps.

Residents have been asking about tree planting within the Contract 3-4-5 areas.  Tree planting is one of the last items done so no new trees are damaged during construction.  Once PJ Albert finishes the restoration activities at the end of the Summer 2024, tree replanting in the Contract 3-4-5 areas will begin.  Any residents wanting to discuss the tree replanting program should call Elaini Sahtouris, Staff Engineer at 978-685-0950 x.44022.

Please continue to email at road-restoration@northandoverma.gov or call the DPW at 978-685-0950 with questions, comments, or suggestions.
